National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) DAAC

NASA's National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) Distributed Active Archive Center (DAAC) provides data and information for snow and ice processes, particularly interactions among snow, ice, atmosphere, and ocean, in support of research in global change detection and model validation.
NSIDC DAAC archives and distributes cryosphere and climate related products from several EOS sensors including:
- Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer - EOS (AMSR-E)
- AMSR2
- Aquarius
- Airborne Snow Observatory (ASO)
- Cold Land Processes Field Experiment (CLPX)
- Global Land Ice Measurements (GLIMS)
- IceBridge
- ICESat/Geoscience Laser Altimeter System (GLAS)
- Ice, Cloud, and land Elevation Satellite-2 (ICESat-2)
- Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS)
- Soil Moisture Active Passive (SMAP)
- Scanning Multichannel Microwave Radiometer (SMMR)
- Special Sensor Microwave Imager (SSM/I)
- Special Sensor Microwave Imager/Sounder (SSMIS)
- Snow Experiment (SnowEX)
- Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS)
NSIDC DAAC also provides general data and information services to the cryospheric and polar processes research community. NSIDC DAAC is located in Boulder, CO. NSIDC DAAC has served at the forefront of cryospheric data management practices since 1976. NSIDC DAAC is part of the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES), a joint institute of University of Colorado Boulder and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Webinar: Operation IceBridge: Come Discover a Decade of Polar Data
NASA's Operation IceBridge is an airborne mission that collects a wide range of remote sensing measurements in the polar regions of the world. The National Snow & Ice Data Center (NSIDC) is managing the data archive for all IceBridge data, and so an easy-to-use Portal has been developed.

Webinar: A New Era for Gridded Passive Microwave Data at NASA's NSIDC DAAC
Available since 1978, scientists have used passive microwave measurements to derive significant and meaningful climate records of many parameters, including the dramatic decline in Arctic sea ice, even though the spatial resolution has been relatively course compared to visible sensors like Landsat.
