ODPS SIPS

Ocean Data Processing System SIPS

Location

Greenbelt, MD

NASA's Ocean Data Processing System Science Investigator-led Processing System (ODPS SIPS), located at NASA's Ocean Biology Distributed Active Archive Center (OB.DAAC) at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD, produces ocean color and sea surface temperature data products from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) instruments aboard the Terra and Aqua platforms.

ODPS SIPS allows users to visually search/browse the ocean color data archive for many parameters and time periods and directly download or order the data and images directly from ODPS SIPS. Users can also create time series plots of selected Sea-viewing Wide Field-of-view Sensor (SeaWiFS), MODIS, and Ocean Color and Temperature Scanner (OCTS) Standard Mapped Images for a set of selected regions or the entire globe.

The sea surface temperature products are provided to NASA's Physical Oceanography DAAC (PO.DAAC) for archiving and distribution. The other products are archived at OB.DAAC, which is collocated with ODPS SIPS.
