EMIT Spectral Bands

View a list of spectral bands for the Earth Surface Mineral Dust Source Investigation (EMIT) Imaging Spectrometer.

The EMIT imaging spectrometer aboard the International Space Station (ISS) uses contiguous spectroscopic measurements to capture 285 bands in the visible to shortwave infrared (VSWIR) region of the spectrum to resolve absorption features of dust-forming minerals.

The table below lists spectral properties for EMIT radiance and reflectance products.

PropertyDescription
Spectral Range381 to 2493 nanometers (nm)
Number of Bands285
Spectral Resolution~7.5 nm
