This false-color image shows bands of snow across Iowa, USA. This image was acquired on 18 November 2018 by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) instrument, aboard the Aqua satellite.

Use the comparison tool to look at the difference between the true-color corrected reflectance image and the bands 7-2-1 corrected reflectance image from MODIS/Aqua. This band combination is useful for distinguishing snow and ice from clouds. The left A side of the comparison tool shows the Bands 7-2-1 layer where the snow is shown in cyan and clouds as white while the right B side shows the true color image, where the snow and clouds are white.
