Snow in Morocco

Image captured on January 2, 2025, by the VIIRS instrument aboard the NOAA-21 platform.

This false-color (Bands M11-I2-I1) corrected reflectance image animation shows the appearance of snow in Morocco from December 19, 2024, to January 2, 2025. The images were captured by the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) instrument aboard the joint NASA/NOAA NOAA-21 platform. Press the blue "Play" button in the lower left corner to view the animation. Snow appears cyan in the images, in contrast to the green vegetated areas and brown non-vegetated areas.

Cold air masses from Northern Europe brought the snowy conditions to Morocco, where some mountainous regions experienced 35-40 cm of snow accumulation.
