Join NASA's Goddard Earth Sciences Data and Information Services Center (GES DISC) experts as they delve into the use of GES DISC public Zarr store and cloud computing to investigate extreme precipitation events in the Southwestern United States during the 2017 monsoon season and in the summer of 2023.

During the webinar, panelists will show how to access NASA Global Precipitation Measurement Integrated Multi-Satellite Retrievals Version 6 (GPM IMERG v06) from the GES DISC public Zarr store using cloud computing clusters, allowing for real-time generation of long-term climatologies.

The presenters also will demonstrate how to use the Giovanni Earth science data visualization and analysis tool to extract the Modern Era Retrospective analysis for Research and Applications Version 2 (MERRA-2) extreme index. These techniques illustrate how data and visualization tools archived at GES DISC can be effectively combined with cloud computing and cloud-optimized data formats to efficiently analyze meteorological extremes.
