NASA’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory Distributed Active Archive Center (ORNL DAAC) has released new datasets for the Carbon Monitoring System (CMS) project. These data include airborne measurements of trace gases in southern Florida (BlueFlux, 2022-2024), radar-derived woody biomass and canopy cover estimates in South Africa's Greater Kruger National Park (2018), data assimilation reanalyses providing gridded continental carbon and water stocks for North America (2012–2024), and global monthly biosphere fluxes and pools (CARDAMOM, 2001-2021).

NASA's CMS is designed to make significant contributions in characterizing, quantifying, understanding, and predicting the evolution of global carbon sources and sinks by improving the monitoring of carbon stocks and fluxes. The CMS project uses NASA satellite observations and modeling/analysis capabilities to establish the accuracy, quantitative uncertainties, and utility of products for supporting national and international policy, regulatory, and management activities. CMS data products inform near-term decision-making, market applications, and program development.

More information on these datasets and others like them can be found on the CMS project landing page.
