MOPITT is planning its quasi-annual hot calibration this year to occur from November 27 through December 8, 2023. During this period the instrument will be taken out of science mode. The onboard blackbodies will be amped up to solar thermal temperatures so that the near IR channel can be calibrated. Other similar activities will occur. We expect to be back online by December 8, freshly decontaminated and calibrated. This event carries some risk, but has been performed successfully many times over the course of the mission. If there are any questions, please reach out and we'll try to help.
We are in the process of migrating all NASA Earth science data sites into Earthdata from now until end of 2026. Not all NASA Earth science data and resources will appear here until then. Thank you for your patience as we make this transition.
