Some datasets that were previously published are occasionally replaced by a more recent version, or retired due to a request by the data provider. In every case, the dataset information is still available for user access on a permanent landing page. The Digital Object Identifier (DOI) for the dataset remains indefinitely and resolves to that landing page with access to original information such as user guides and dataset documentation. In the case of dataset replacement, links to newer versions are available.
NASA's Global Hydrometeorology Resource Center Distributed Active Archive Center (GHRC DAAC) maintains the current and most recently superseded published versions of any given dataset. Decisions regarding whether to maintain earlier versions are made on a case-by-case basis depending on data volume, science value, and usage metrics. Only the latest version of a dataset is listed in GHRC Search Portal and CMR with data available online for quick access.
