LANCE Data Latency

Note:

Higher product latencies for:

• MLS-AURA, April 28, 2025, due to missing level 2 NRT data.
• OMPS-SNPP, April 29-30, 2025, is under investigation.
• OMI-AURA, April 30, 2025, is under investigation.
• VIIRS-NOAA-21-Land, May 1, 2025, due to an issue with L0 data.
• OMPS-SNPP, May 3, 2025, is under investigation.

Note:

1. Latency for a data granule is defined as the time taken from the midpoint between the start and end of acquisition of the data for that granule to the granule’s being ready online for users to download.
2. Duration covered by the data for a granule is defined differently for different instruments (e.g., MODIS granules are 5 minutes long while OMI NRT granules are 13 to 136 minutes long).
3. Over the last 4 weeks, over 95% of NRT data requests for all instruments except for 6 instruments (OMPS-SNPP, SMAP L-BAND RADIOMETER-SMAP, VIIRS-NOAA-20-Land, VIIRS-SNPP-Land, VIIRS-NOAA20-Atmosphere, and VIIRS-NOAA-21-Land) were satisfied within 3 hours. OMPS-SNPP, SMAP L-BAND RADIOMETER-SMAP, VIIRS-NOAA-20-Land, VIIRS-SNPP-Land, VIIRS-NOAA20-Atmosphere, and VIIRS-NOAA-21-Land over 94%, 82%, 92%, 77%, 94%, and 68% of the NRT data requests were satisfied within 3 hours, respectively.
4. MOPITT in Safe Mode: On February 1, 2025, the Terra Measurement of Pollution in The Troposphere (MOPITT) instrument went into safe mode. While in safe mode, there will be no MOPITT science data collected. As of March 31, 2025, the MOPITT Subsetter will be decommissioned.
