Level 1 and Atmosphere Archive and Distribution System (LAADS)
Level 1 and Atmosphere Archive and Distribution System
As a DAAC, LAADS is part of the Terrestrial Information Systems Laboratory at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD. It is collocated with the MODIS Adaptive Processing System (MODAPS). LAADS joined the EOSDIS DAACs in 2007.
LAADS provides access to MODIS Level 1 data (geolocation, L1A, and radiance L1B) and Atmosphere (Level 2 and 3) data products (MODAPS). MODIS LAADS receives data processed by MODAPS and archives and distributes MODIS products from both the Terra and Aqua platforms: Level-1 products (calibrated radiances and geolocation) and Level-2 and -3. MODAPS supports MODIS data from both the Terra and Aqua platforms. Products may be subset by parameter, area, or band, and may be mosaicked, reprojected, or masked. Users may also visually browse MODIS level 1 and atmosphere data products.

MODIS Adaptive Processing System
LAADS receives data processed by MODAPS, archives and distributes MODIS products from both the Terra and Aqua platforms: Level 1 products (calibrated radiances and geolocation) and Level 2 and 3 Atmosphere and Land products.
LAADS offers three visual browsers of data - global, granule, and tile - to enable users to search and determine the desired data.
LAADS Provides access to tools such as subsetting, subsampling, reprojecting, and mosaicing.
MODAPS provides access to its data holdings through LAADS. Data searches may be conducted using product name, temporal window, collection, and spatial coordinates, or may be found and downloaded using the Level 2 and Level 3 browsers. A variety of subsetting and reprojection options are available to the user. Data may also be downloaded directly from the data pool using FTP.
