The use of corrected reflectance imagery from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) and Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) are useful for identifying and tracking smoke plumes.
Other potentially useful data sets include: MODIS and VIIRS Aerosol Index, MODIS Aerosol, Atmospheric Infrared Sounder (AIRS) Visible/Near-IR Radiances and Brightness Temperatures and Ozone Monitoring Instrument (OMI) and Ozone Mapping Profiler Suite (OMPS) Sulfur Dioxide (SO2) (total column).
