False-color corrected reflectance image of fires and burned areas on the Greek island of Rhodes on July 26, 2023. This image was acquired by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) aboard NASA's Terra satellite. Burned areas appear as dark red patches in the center of the island extending south toward the sea; bright red areas are the actively burning fire front, and can be seen along the southwest portion of the burned area. The fires reached the seaside villages of Kiotari, Gennadi, Pefki, Lindos, Lardos, and Kalathos. Visit Worldview to view and interactively explore the burned areas and fires on Rhodes. Fires are burning in many other parts of Greece, including Corfu, Evia, Crete, and the northern Peloponnese region.
