Image of Rain Rate (Descending) on February 28, 2022 overlaid on a Suomi NPP/VIIRS Corrected Reflectance image. Rain Rate was acquired by the Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) Microwave Imager (GMI) instrument, on the GPM Core Observatory.

The GMI Rain Rate layers (Ascending and Descending) provide the rate at with rain reaches the Earth's surface in millimeters per hour (mm/hr). The Rain Rate layers provide snapshots of individual storms, including tropical cyclones and flood-producing systems.
