Hurricane Milton made landfall near Siesta Key as a powerful Category 3 storm with sustained winds of 120 mph. As it moved inland and across the state, winds decreased and it became a Category 1 storm. The storm spawned more than 100 reported tornadoes, and despite not bringing the extreme storm surge that was initially predicted, damage and flooding are reported to be significant.
