Image Caption

True-color reflectance (Nadir Bidirectional Reflectance Distribution Function [BRDF]-adjusted) image of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The United Arab Emirates is the host nation for the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28), which takes place November 30 to December 12, 2023. This image was acquired on November 27, 2023, by the Operational Land Imager (OLI) instrument. Explore this image of Dubai and the United Arab Emirates in Worldview.

The imagery, available in NASA's Worldview, are part of the Harmonized Landsat and Sentinel-2 (HLS) project. HLS provides 30-meter resolution, true-color surface reflectance imagery from the OLI and OLI-2 instruments aboard the joint NASA/USGS Landsat 8 and Landsat 9 satellites and the Multi-Spectral Instruments (MSI) aboard the ESA (European Space Agency) Sentinel-2A and -2B satellites. The data from the different instruments and platforms are processed through a set of algorithms to make the imagery consistent and comparable across the instruments. This processing includes atmospheric correction, cloud and cloud-shadow masking, spatial co-registration and common gridding, illumination and view angle normalization, and spectral bandpass adjustment.
