Webinar: Redesigning Giovanni: More Data, More Plots, Faster Results
Join us on Wednesday, 6 May, 2 - 3PM ET to learn how to easily access, visualize and download many of NASA's Earth science data sets using the redesigned NASA Giovanni-4 Tool.

Spring 2004 MODIS Aerosol Optical Depth over the northeastern tropical Atlantic Ocean. The inset plot is a time-series for spring (March-April-May) MODIS AOD from 2003-2009. The map and time-series demonstrate several of the capabilities of Giovanni-4. In the Federated Giovanni project, MODIS atmospheric data will be acquired from LAADS DAAC, which is one of the five DAACs participating in Federated Giovanni.
Event: Redesigning Giovanni: More Data, More Plots, Faster Results
Date: Wednesday, 6 May 2015, 2 - 3PM ET
Since inception, the GES-DISC interactive online visualization and analysis infrastructure (Giovanni) has been developed with the primary goals of making the system easy to use and making the visualization and analyses run quickly, while providing full information context. These goals have strongly guided the development of Giovanni-4, which along with the cost-saving use of available “off-the-shelf” software, has dramatically improved the analytical speed of the system. Giovanni-4 also includes an expanded suite of analytical choices. Giovanni-4 operates with a single user interface incorporating faceted search, so that any of the available data variables can be analyzed simultaneously. This major redesign feature makes the system more useful for multi-variable, multi-disciplinary research. The Federated Giovanni project in turn markedly increases the availability of data from other NASA Earth Observing System Data and Information System (EOSDIS) Distributed Active Archive Centers (DAACs) which further enhances the multidisciplinary aspect. In this presentation, the major features that are central to the Giovanni-4 design concept will be demonstrated, along with the current and near-future data sets that will be available in the system through the Federated Giovanni project.
