GHRC DAAC

The Global Hydrology Resource Center (GHRC) Distributed Active Archive Center (DAAC) is pleased to announce the public “beta” release of near real-time (NRT) data from the Lightning Imaging Sensor (LIS) on the International Space Station (ISS). Lightning observations and background data files are generated within minutes of observation. A browse web page shows the most recent two minutes of lightning data on a map, along with composite image showing lightning observations for the past 12 hours. The two ISS LIS datasets are:

The Land Processes DAAC (LP DAAC) has released the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) Version 6 Net Evapotranspiration product suite. The Level 4 data products have been produced from 2001 and will continue to be processed to present day over the coming weeks. A total of four 500 meter resolution data products are available at two temporal resolutions: 8-day and yearly. Previous versions of the MODIS Net Evapotranspiration products were distributed by the Numerical Terradynamic Simulation Group (NTSG) at the University of Montana.
The National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) DAAC updated the dataset NASA IceBridge DMS L0 Raw Imagery with data from the spring 2017 campaign. This dataset contains level zero imagery taken from the Digital Mapping System (DMS) over Antarctica and Greenland during the Operation IceBridge campaign. Data Set DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.5067/UMFN22VHGGMH
NSIDC DAAC would like to announce a change to data access for the Making Earth System Data Records for Use in Research Environment (MEaSUREs) MODIS Mosaic of Greenland 2005 (MOG2005) Image Map, Version 1 data set. Data access is now available at: https://n5eil01u.ecs.nsidc.org/MEASURES/NSIDC-0547.001/. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.5067/IAGYM8Q26QRE
The NSIDC DAAC has published the dataset Daily Snow Depths and SWE from GPS Signal-to-Noise Ratios. The data comprise daily snow depth and snow water equivalent (SWE) at 223 stations located primarily in the western United States, including Alaska. Additional sites are located in Hawaii (Mauna Kea), Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin, plus seven locations in Canada, one in Greenland, and one in Sweden. The dataset is estimated from Ground Positioning System (GPS) signal-to-noise ratios. Data set DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.5067/Z02Y1HGNFXCH
Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) DAAC published the revised dataset Geoecology: County-Level Environmental Data for the United States, 1941-1981. The Geoecology database is a compilation of environmental data for the period 1941 to 1981. The Geoecology database contains selected data on terrain and soils, water resources, forestry, vegetation, agriculture, land use, wildlife, air quality, climate, natural areas, and endangered species. Data on selected human population characteristics are also included to complement the environmental files. Data represent the conterminous United States (CONUS) at the county level. Dataset DOI: https://doi.org/10.3334/ORNLDAAC/656
ORNL DAAC published the ABoVE dataset Pre-ABoVE: Arctic Vegetation Plots at Barrow, Alaska, 2012. This dataset provides vegetation cover and environmental plot data collected at the Barrow Environmental Observatory (BEO), Barrow, Alaska in 2012. Dataset DOI: https://doi.org/10.3334/ORNLDAAC/1505
ORNL DAAC published the dataset LiDAR and DTM Data from Tapajos National Forest in Para, Brazil, 2008. This dataset provides LiDAR point clouds and digital terrain models (DTM) from surveys over the Tapajos National Forest in Belterra municipality, Para, Brazil during late June and early July 2008. The surveys encompass the eddy flux towers and a deforestation chronosequence managed through the Large-Scale Biosphere-Atmosphere Experiment (LBA-ECO). Dataset DOI: https://doi.org/10.3334/ORNLDAAC/1514

ORNL DAAC published the dataset LiDAR and DTM Data from Forested Land Near Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil, 2008. This dataset provides LiDAR point clouds and digital terrain models (DTM) from surveys over the flux tower site in the Cuieiras Biological Reserve, over forest inventory plots in the Adolpho Ducke Forest Reserve, and over sites of the Biological Dynamics of Forest Fragments Project (BDFFP) in Rio Preto da Eva municipality near Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil during June 2008. Dataset DOI: https://doi.org/10.3334/ORNLDAAC/1515
