EOSDIS Data News: June 29, 2018
NASA's Global Hydrology Resource Center Distributed Active Archive Center (GHRC DAAC) published the Global Precipitation Measurement Ground Validation (GPM-GV) Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) 2A25 NRT Precipitation Radar Integrated Precipitation and Hydrology Experiment (IPHEx) dataset. These data are estimates of instantaneous three-dimensional distribution of rain from the TRMM Precipitation Radar (PR). The TRMM 2A25 near real-time (NRT) orbital precipitation radar data from GES DISC have been extracted for the southeast US region for May 1 to June 16, 2014 during the GPM-GV IPHEx field campaign. This data product contains the average rainfall rate between two predefined altitudes derived from each radar beam position. Other output data include parameters of Z-R relationships (R=aZb), integrated rain rate of each beam, range bin numbers of rain layer boundaries, and many intermediate parameters. Data files are available in HDF-4 format, while corresponding browse images are also available in PNG format. It should be noted that this dataset is constructed from GES DISC data. NASA's Land Processes DAAC (LP DAAC) has recently released the new NASA-produced Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership (Suomi NPP) Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) Vegetation Indices Version 1 data products (VNP13s). These data products provide the best pixel available from all acquisitions within 16-day and monthly periods, at 500 meter, 1 kilometer, and 0.05 degree (5,600 meter) resolution. Information from these data products provides global vegetation metrics, which are useful for monitoring vegetation activity, distribution, and composition. These data products support phenology and change detection studies, and can be used as a parameter for vegetation models.

NASA's Oak Ridge National Laboratory DAAC (ORNL DAAC) published an update to the Daymet: Annual Tile Summary Cross-Validation Statistics for North America, Version 3 dataset. This update includes cross-validation statistics for year 2017.
