Rasters

Natural Earth
The Natural Earth image is at 5 km resolution and derived from multiple data sources including: MODIS VCF, Blue Marble, SRTM30, GTOPO30, ETOPO2, Digital Chart of the World, CIA's Polar Region Altas, US State Department international boundaries, AVHRR Global Land Cover Characteristics and MOD12Q1. For more information about Natural Earth, please visit http://www.naturalearthdata.com/. Image available online from Natural Earth at http://www.naturalearthdata.com/downloads/.

Elevation and Rivers
The elevation and rivers image is derived from The Global Land 1km Base Elevation (GLOBE) Project data, classified by 500m contour intervals. Hydrography is data derived from ESRI's ArcWorld 1:3 M dataset, perennial lakes and rivers data. Both datasets were overlayed and rasterized to 1km resolution. GLOBE Task Team and others [Hastings, David A., Paula K. Dunbar, Gerald M. Elphingstone, Mark Bootz, Hiroshi Murakami, Hiroshi Maruyama, Hiroshi Masaharu, Peter Holland, John Payne, Nevin A. Blue Marble, Next Generation
Blue Marble, Next Generation is a 12 month series of monthly, cloud-free, global scale images created from NASA Terra Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) for 2004 at 500m spatial resolution. Web Fire Mapper displays June 2004, resampled to 1km resolution.
