The mission of the NASA Earth Science Data Systems (ESDS) Standards Process Group (SPG) is to foster the use of proven data system standards for both producers and users of NASA data products and services, thereby facilitating the efficient exploration, discovery, and prudent preservation of NASA Earth science data.
Through a community-based review and vetting process, the SPG provides the means for NASA stakeholders to designate preferred standards and other practices that will advance NASA’s Earth science mission through improved utilization of its resources. The SPG also seeks to identify areas of data production and management where standardization would increase the ability of the science community to use NASA Earth science data and to promote development of valuable new standards.
This Reference Architecture elucidates a data model, a set of functions and services that are common among data systems that operate on NASA’s Earth Science data.
