The SeaWiFS Data Analysis System (SeaDAS) is a mature software product aimed at processing, displaying, and analyzing ocean color data from SeaWiFS, Terra MODIS, Aqua MODIS, OCTS, and CZCS. It has been updated from version 1.0 in 1995 to the most recent release of version 5.4 in June 2009, and the software is in the public domain, freely available to anyone. Documentation and support are provided by the SeaDAS team online at their web site. The long history, detailed documentation, source code, and very open license make it suitable for reuse in a wide range of applications, and the SeaDAS package is exemplary of the kinds of software products that contribute to the Earth science community's capabilities to engage in software reuse.
