HDF-EOS Web-based subsetter (HEW) family of subsetting software

Contributed by the UAHuntsville Subset Team at the University of Alabama at Huntsville, the core of its HDF-EOS Web-based subsetter (HEW) was extracted and augmented with utility functions to provide a full-featured application library capable of subsetting most HDF-EOS data files. This HEW Subsetting Engine (HSE) forms the basis of the HEW Subsetting Appliance which provides on-demand subsetting for orders placed through, for example, the Earth Observing System Clearinghouse (ECHO). Several NASA EOSDIS data centers make use of the HSE, some modifying the code themselves and others requesting modifications from the UAHuntsville Subset Team as needed.
