The LANCE Rapid Response system provides a variety of imagery for certain products from the MODIS, AIRS, and OMI instruments. Imagery for approximately 40 products from the three instruments are available and are organized into 14 application categories to assist users in monitoring and analyzing a variety of natural and man-made Hazards and Disasters (e.g. ash plumes and fires). The traditional MODIS Subsets and MODIS Near Real Time (Orbit Swath) Images continue to be available. Additional information may be found at About Rapid Response Imagery. Hazards and DisastersSubsets of 40 products from MODIS, AIRS, and OMI are available for a variety of hazards and disasters categories selected by the users. The imagery is available through a geographic or polar coordinate system Web Mapping Service client. NOTE: The WMS client currently does not work with Internet Explorer. MODIS SubsetsA large number of user-specified, geo-referenced and geographically sub-setted images around the world are available in GIS-compatible format. Examples include most of the AERONET sunphometer and the USDA Foreign Agriculture Service sites. To add additional sites, please Contact Us. MODIS Near Real Time (Orbit Swath) ImagesSwath images are generated for each five-minute interval for both Terra and Aqua MODIS data. These data are posted on this page approximately 2.5 hours after the observation at the spacecraft. GalleryThe imagery for approximately 40 products from MODIS, AIRS, and OMI are reviewed each day and images for interesting events and phenomena are displayed in this gallery. Antarctica MosaicComplete mosaic images of Antarctica are generated every day at 4km, 2km, 1km resolutions. The mosaic is composed of smaller image tiles, which are available individually at 250 m, 500 m, 1 km, 2 km, and 4 km resolutions. Arctic MosaicComplete mosaic images of the Arctic are generated every day at 4km, 2km, 1km resolutions. The mosaic is composed of smaller image tiles, which are available individually at 250 m, 500 m, 1 km, 2 km, and 4 km resolutions. MODIS Global Fire MapsIn conjunction with the LANCE Fire Information for Resource Management System (FIRMS), global, 10-day fire maps are available summarizing the fire activity across the world. Other fire-related products are available through FIRMS.
